I have similar thoughts in relation to information some of us have tried to get from councils and other organizations, you just cannot get clear info. on where to go to drop off different materials. The one place I did visit was in Eaglehawk [ just out of Bendigo ]and for a country area a fantastic set up. Recyclling T/V's, plastic, flouro tubes, and many more. There should be more info. in the city areas with school programs for education of the little tackers just like my grandchildren for a cleaner and healthier envirtoment.

Hi Pepe,

There is a charge for the service, and the price is based per item and is dependant on size and weight. The cost covers not just the cost of collection, but also the cost of properly recycling the ewaste too. It's probably best to give call us at the office on 1800 39 87 83 so that we can discuss what you have in more detail, or send an email through to mail@ewaste.com.au with a bit more information.

It sounds like you're doing a really good job though and it all sounds like a great idea! It is better to gather as much as possible for one collection and may end up reducing your costs slightly. We can collect batteries too.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Ewaste,
I am trying to convince my employer (Biiiiiiig one) to use the services of people like... You! So, could you please give me an idea of a cost for that. There has to be one isn't there?-
I will push also for the plant to collect the fluos from the inhabitantsof the town (So that people like you an I, Em, have realistic option for disposing responsibly of the light bulbs) , but that takes convincing... (and low fees) I assume that the most you pick up, the cheaper!?
Let me know your take on that!

Hi Em,
We understand you frustration; most people don't understand the dangers of mercury, let alone how to dispose of it safely. At Ewaste, we offer one solution but more does need to be done by the government and bulb manufacturers to ensure that consumers are well informed of how to safely dispose of their bulbs. Should you require more information, please don't hesitate to call the office on 1300 392 783.
Thank you.

So, now every time one of my CFL bulbs blows out, I am supposed to call 1800ewaste or a similar company and pay for the disposal? How much would that be? Or do I need to keep them at my house, like a packrat, until I have a decent number to dispose? I am trying to reduce clutter in my house, not increase it. I agree with switching over to them but it's annoying how little information is available on the safe disposal of them at the end of their life. Especially as the government is phasing out the sale of the old incandescent ones.

It's important to note that mercury pollution from coal-fired power stations is far greater than that from CFLs.

The mercury from coal burning goes into the oceans, into the flesh of long-lived sea creatures and into the bodies of seafood-eating humans.

I am located here in the United States and I am also involved in the disposal of fluorescent light bulbs. through customers who have moved to the United States from Australia I have heard of your company. I must say that all three of these customers had nothing but great things to say of your service as it was impeccable. keep up the good work.
