Hi Dhiraj,

Yes it does seem like a fairly high recycling rate, but what it's important to consider is the way in which it's recycled in countries such as India. As you can see in the Greenpeace video above, there is little concern for health and safety and children as young as 5 are being subjected to inhaling harmful toxins released by the burning of Ewaste. They may be recycling the Ewaste, but at what cost to health and the environment? THe CSE press release is an interesting read, and we will try and find out more for you.

Thank you for your enquiry.

I recently came across a press release of CSE which talks about the recycling rate of e waste in India is around 10%, i have some reservations about such a high recycling rat ein India. Please throw some light on the recycling rate in India.

Hello Hari, In having a look at the synopsis of the book on the Internet, we'd agree - it should be read widely. We've also just posted a Greenpeace video documentary into the article that sheds more light on ewaste recycling in Delhi.

I recently came across an important book by Kaveri Gill on poverty and the plastic
recycling industry in India. It is called "Of Poverty and Plastic." I've written a review and interviewed the author, and I think it should be read widely.
