Hi Pete,

Yes there has been quite a bit of press about fake recyclers recently, and whilst we assure you that we use accredited recycling facilities within Australia we understand your interest in more information. We will aim to get as much information up for you as soon as possible.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hello,
can I second the request for more detailed information and pictures or video of exactly how the difficult process of separation actually happens at your facility. Lots of people I speak to seem to think that a lot of stuff which is claimed to be recycled actually doesn't get recycled. I don't believe that about your scheme but I would really like to see more and have something I could direct others too as well. I'm so glad this is being done.
best regards
Pete

Hi Morag,
That article is pretty scary - have a look at our article "The best and the worst of ewaste in India" for our views on exporting Ewaste. It stresses the importance of ensuring you use a reputable recycler and to be aware of rogue companies that illegally export Ewaste. At 1800Ewaste we only use Australian owned recycling facilities, so none of the Ewaste we collect is sent overseas; it's all recycled right here in Australia to international standards.

We will certainly work on getting more information and pictures onto the website for you; we are constantly trying to update the site with relevant and informative material, so your feedback is always greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Great flow chart but can you tell us more about 'how' our electronic waste is recycled? Can you put up some photos of your facilities (or some video clips)? I'd like to know that as much is happening in Australia as possible and that if anything is sent overseas that it's only to countries with high OHS and pollution regulations and that no-one is being harmed by toxins - especially if so much of the recycling has to be done by hand. Articles like the one at: http://www.osnews.com/story/23526/Scandal_Most_Recycled_Computers_are_Not_Recycled are very scary and I'm hoping we have a better solution here in Australia. Please tell me more about your steps to recycle in relation to health and safety and other sustainability issues such as energy use. I'm keen to know more.
